Flower Power
I decided to try some of my new cutters that I had not got round to using yet and created a plate ful of different flowers. The roses were handmade usign my usual technique but I needed some practice so added some of those in too. I used them all on an order for a 40th party. The birthday girl thought they looked lovely. I have now starting selling handmade roses on ebay in the hope that I can sell a few.

Cancer Research Cupcake Donation
Alice from the Cambridge Journal asked if we could donate some cupcakes so she could sell them on her cake stall to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We of course donated to this good cause. A lovely box of 12 purple and cream cupcakes.
She emailed to say they sold within about 2 minutes!

Cupcakes by post - to be or not to be?
So I've been thinking of ideas of how to take the Lottie's Cupcakes brand nationwide by looking for solutions to post my cupcakes via Royal Mail. After extensively researching the web it seems that it is near on impossible to send them via royal mail without them being totally crushed and mushed up and upside down when they arrive at their destination. I stumbled across this site www.cupacake.com from the US. They have made this fabulous cupcake case in which to send your cupcakes by post, safely and securely without them moving. They can be turned upside down and the icing still remains away from the lid of the pot and arrive safely to the customer. Trouble is these are quite pricey and it seems they do not have a UK distributor. Back to square one :0( Any ideas gratefully received.

Frosting
I had some spare cakes and some left over icing so I decided to have a practise with different icing techniques. Here is the outcome. I think they look quite pretty. These are coffee and walnut cupcakes with cappuccino frosting and dark chocolate chips. I will have to try some pretty pink ones next time, I think they would look even better!

Melbourne Recfest
This is a picture of our stall that we had at Harston Recfest back in May, just before the festival opened to the excited public. It was a very blustery day and we nearly lost the cupcakes on the large stand in a big gust of wind. Thankfully the stall was crowded by hungry cupcake lovers so we managed to rescue it.
